Jerusalem Sifting Project

The Temple Mount Sifting Project was created in order to save  ancient artifacts from thousands of tons of earth and debris excavated from beneath the Temple Mount in the Old City of Jerusalem. Over 200,000 volunteers have been helping to sift the material to help Israel’s archaeologists. Many volunteers have found fascinating items, because almost every bucket sifted contains artifacts from all historical periods of the Temple Mount.

The sifting takes place in a scenic pine grove near Mount Scopus, with panoramic views of the city and pleasant breezes. Your two-hour visit will include an introductory lecture, sifting guidance, and an explanation of the artifacts that your group has found.
