Families and groups of all ages will enjoy a volunteering visit to the Yad Sarah Visitor’s Center in Jerusalem, and a chance to lend a hand to Israel’s elderly and disabled population.

Yad Sarah is one of Jerusalem’s leading charities, with branches all over Israel. They were set up in 1976 to provide mobility equipment to everyone who needs it. From lending crutches to young athletes who have broken an ankle, to fitting out a house with customized beds, hoists and ramps, for a severely disabled person, Yad Sarah is known for fulfilling every request.

At the Yad Sarah Visitor’s Center you can tour the organization’s different departments and learn about the innovative technological solutions that they are creating to help people with different physical challenges. On their ‘World of Giving’ tour, you can meet their teams of dedicated volunteers, including people with special educational needs who help to clean and repair all types of mobility equipment in their workshops.

This exemplary national organization is run with the help of volunteers who drive vans, answer phones, install equipment and provide support to those who need it. Their interactive presentation demonstrates some of the ways in which social responsibility and mutual assistance can be implemented to create a healthier society.

This is an inspiring tour for people of all ages, lasting 1.5 hours, and we highly recommend it. You can also participate in a family activity to put together a walking device to add to their equipment lending center.

The Yad Sarah tour is recommended for anyone aged 12 or over, and the center has a fantastic play center where younger children can be entertained during the tour. There is a kosher café on site, and also a beautiful simcha hall on the top floor of the iconic building, where families can host celebrations against the background of a stunning view of Jerusalem.

If you are interested in holding a Bar or Bat Mitzvah celebration at Yad Sarah and combining it with an inspiring tour and a meaningful volunteering opportunity, contact Shatour Israel Experience and we will make all the arrangements, as part of your memorable celebratory family tour of Israel.
