The American Society for the Protection of Nature in Israel is touring Israel with Shatour to visit environmental projects around the country that they are involved with.
The ASPNI mission group includes 9 members of the board and major donors, including Senator Bob Smith who is Chairman of the New Jersey Senate Environment & Energy Committee and an Honorary ASPNI Board Member. For Bob and his wife Ellen, this will be their third visit to Israel, and they are excited to meet with the SPNI Executive and staff to discuss Israel’s ground-breaking environmental projects.
The Society for the Protection of Nature in Israel is Israel’s leading environmental non-profit organization. Their motto is “Educate – Love – Protect”. For over 60 years, SPNI has been dedicated to protecting and preserving Israel’s natural resources, environment, natural assets and unique landscape. Those who support SPNI recognize that the work they are doing today will determine what the land of Israel will look like for generations to come.
The group will be visiting SPNI field offices near the Kinneret and at Ein Gedi, and urban parks in Jerusalem and Tel Aviv. They will meet with experts to discuss water problems, and also visit the Levi Eshkol Museum in Jerusalem, whose recent renovation they helped to fund.
Leon J. Sokol, Co-Chair of ASPNI, is excited about their forthcoming visit and looking forward to reconnecting with Mustafa Nabulsi, Shatour’s transportation manager, who always has interesting insights to share as a member of Israel’s Arab community. But he is just one of the many reasons why Leon chooses Shatour to organize their regular missions to Israel.
He explains: “We are really excited to have Nathan Shapiro organizing and accompanying our group, because there is no one more knowledgeable about Israel. He is a walking encyclopedia on Israeli history and archeology, and he has a great understanding of environmental issues from his time as Director of Development at SPNI.
“We always book all our trips through Shatour Israel because they are easy to work with and very efficient. I recommend Nathan and the Shatour team to my family and friends too, because they have organized all of our family Israel tours and they are really the best travel agents in Israel!”
